题目：Academic Capitalism in Knowledge Diffusion: Does Gold OA Undermine Fairness?

摘要：We investigate the role of academic capitalism in knowledge diffusion by examining the effects of author-paid open-access (OA) on citations and publication time in economic research. Using a structural model with endogenous treatment, we establish that authors with substantial research funding can significantly boost their citations with OA payment. We also show that the counterfactual OA effect on subscription articles is smaller than that on OA articles. Academic capitalism in the form of financial, social, and human capital erodes equitable opportunities. We advocate for reforms in funding policies and establishment of collective OA agreements to foster a fairer research environment.
